FT1013 45rpm single only
2 tracks 7 minutes 1978
SO RIDE WITH ME was written by Ian Fyvie and won a competition set by the Mid Hants Railway Preservation Society. It was performed by his group Muffin the Mule at a fund raising concert and on BBC Radio Solent in 1978.
THE WATERCRESS LINE was written by Dave Williams, singer/songwriter of the South, and a good friend of the Mid Hants Railway Preservation Society.
The Watercress line, more formally known as the Mid Hants Railway, ran between Alton and Winchester. It was nick-named the Watercress Line because it ran through one of the biggest watercress growing area in the South of England and was used to carry Hampshire watercress to the teeming millions in the big cities.
This single was recorded and copies were sold by the the Mid Hants Railway Preservation Society, to raise funds in its early days. It is now a very successful and popular 'preserved railway'
