Sea Songs and Shanties

Hampshire born Tim has long made a study of the songs collected in Hampshire between 1905-1909 by Dr. George B Gardiner. He is particularly interested in the songs collected from New Forest singers (see George Blake's Legacy) and maritime songs and shanties.

On this CD he sings songs of the sea and shanties collected by Gardiner, many little known and one unique to Hampshire. Some are unaccompanied but on others Tim has called upon his friends, Jacek Sulanowski and Tom Goux to sing on the chorus and John Roberts to sing harmony and play the Anglo Concertina. Jacek, Tom and John are all well known and respected singers of sea songs in the USA, which is where Tim now lives.

Presented with a 4pp booklet with notes. 20pp A5 pdf booklet with notes and song texts here: http://forest-tracks.co.uk/FTCD211bookletpdfs.html

"..... I thought I had a pretty full repertoire of sea songs, but there are a lot here which are new to me…."
