William Wilkins was born around 1861 at Redlynch.

He was a general labourer and married Eliza, the daughter of John Andrews.

In the 1901 census William and Eliza were living at Nicholls Corner, Bartley with Florence 10, James 4 and Dorothy 2.

William died in 1935, aged 73, and is buried at Copythorne with Eliza.

He was 47 years old when he sang The Prickly Bush for Dr. Gardiner on 11th September, 1908.

And his daughter Florence

William is pictured here with his daughter Florence, who we believe also used to sing.

The sash he is proudly wearing is most probably regalia of a lodge, perhaps The Foresters?

Thanks to William's grand-daughter, Molly Jarvis,
for information and photos.
